Breast Implant Sizes

Now that you have decided that you want to get a breast augmentation procedure done, it is important to find a size that will be best for you. One of the biggest concerns for women is getting the wrong size. They worry that they will either go too big or too small which will lower the satisfaction they gain from the surgery. You should consult with your surgeon to help find the right size, but we will go over a few things that might help in the decision process.

Things to Consider When Choosing an Implant Size

First off you will want to meet with a surgeon and have an open mind. Do not go into the consultation with a closed mind saying that you want a certain “cc” implant. The person you are seeing is an expert and has most likely seen women with your body type before. They will give you advice and steer you toward making the best decision. Here are a couple factors that will gone over to ensure the right size for you:

  • Risks Involved: Generally the larger you go you increase your chances of complications. The less skin that can cover the implant can lead to things like capsular contracture or double bubble. Both of these issues must be resolved with another procedure.
  • Your Activity Level: If you are someone who competes or regularly participates in sports you will consider this when choosing a size.  If frequently engage in a running based sport you will not want them to be too big or you will have to always have a lot of support. Also if you do things like yoga or martial arts the implants might get in the way or be a burden.
  • Look You Want To Achieve: Some women are going for the most natural look possible which will have you with a smaller implant size. The larger the breast implant size is the more unnatural it will look.  Some women do not mind the unnatural look, or want something in between natural and too big. Each person is different. Make sure that you discuss this with your surgeon.

How Do I See What Each Size Looks Like?

There is a breast implant size company out there that created sizers that women could wear. The Purlz Breast Sizing System allows women to purchase these implant sizers you can wear. They are a bra pad that is designed to be the similar volume of the breast implant sizes.  You can go from 200ccs all the way up to 700ccs. Each of them cost around $30 so you can try a B, C,or D to see which you one think will be the best fit for you.

The Rice Test To Determine Breast Implant Sizing

This is a do it yourself test to get a general idea of what the sizes of implants are. This should not be the basis of your final decision,  but it can help you get an idea. Each ounce of rice equals approximately 30ccs. So 10 ounces would be 300 ccs or 20 ounces would be 600 ccs. Put the rice in a stocking and then flatten it out. Place the flattened stocking into your non padded bra and you can add or subtract to see different sizes.

Remember that this is a very big decision and you want to be sure that you get the right size. The confidence boost you can have from this procedure is immense, but conversely choosing the wrong size can lower your confidence. Use tools like the Purlz Breast Sizing System and the expertise of your surgeon to find the perfect size for your body and the look you are trying to achieve.
